ce.gg Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: [PENDING LAUNCH — to be finalized after lawyer review at S11+] Last updated: 2026-05-17 (draft) Version: v0.1 (draft; legal review pending)
⚠ This is a DRAFT document. This policy ships with the S05 design lock as architectural commitment. Final wording requires trademark + privacy + consumer counsel review before public launch (S11+ pre-launch checklist).
1. About this policy
ce.gg is a link-shortening service operated by Easier ("we", "us"). This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you may and may not do when using our services. It applies to every link created, every account registered, every API request, and every interaction with our platform.
This policy exists to protect:
- Users who click links — from phishing, malware, fraud, and impersonation
- Brand owners — from trademark dilution, squatting, and customer confusion
- Operators and other tenants — from spam, abuse, and service degradation
- The platform itself — from being used to harm others
Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, removal of your links, and (where appropriate) cooperation with law enforcement.
2. Prohibited content and uses
You may NOT use ce.gg to:
2.1 Deceive or defraud
- Create links impersonating brands, individuals, or organizations you do not represent
- Use trademarked names in slugs without permission from the trademark holder (see §3)
- Create slugs combining brand names with scam-modifier words like
support, verify, account, login, recover, claim, airdrop, etc. (these patterns are blocked at creation) - Use visually similar characters (Unicode confusables, leetspeak substitutions like
g00gleforgoogle) to impersonate brands - Hide the destination URL through nested redirects, open redirect endpoints, or other obfuscation techniques
- Create links to phishing pages, fraudulent storefronts, or pages designed to harvest credentials
2.2 Distribute illegal or harmful content
- Distribute malware, viruses, trojans, or any code designed to harm computers or data
- Link to child sexual abuse material (we report to NCMEC and law enforcement)
- Link to content that promotes terrorism, violence, or coordinated harassment
- Facilitate illegal activity — drug trafficking, weapons sales, human trafficking, money laundering, etc.
2.3 Violate others' rights
- Infringe copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property rights
- Share private information without consent (doxxing)
- Defame, harass, or intimidate individuals or groups
- Violate applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
2.4 Abuse the service
- Circumvent rate limits, security mechanisms, or access controls
- Attempt to enumerate or guess slugs belonging to others
- Use automated tools to create links at scale outside our API terms
- Resell or sublicense access to our platform without authorization
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract proprietary algorithms
3. Brand and trademark protection
We take brand abuse seriously and operate a proactive defense system at link creation time:
- Famous trademarks (e.g., Google, Apple, Microsoft, OpenAI): cannot be used as standalone custom slugs by anyone who is not the verified trademark owner. To claim a famous-mark slug as the rightful owner, contact trademark@ce.gg with documentation (USPTO registration, official authorization, etc.). We respond within 48 hours.
- Recognizable brands (e.g., Notion, Figma, Slack): may be used as custom slugs but require an explicit attestation that you have the right to use the name. This attestation is recorded permanently. Misrepresentation is grounds for account termination and may be shared with the trademark owner upon valid legal request.
- Brand + scam-modifier compounds (e.g.,
apple-support,google-verify,microsoft-account): are blocked at creation regardless of who attempts them. There is no legitimate use case for these patterns; they are exclusively used for phishing.
- Lookalike obfuscations (e.g.,
g00gle,app1e-support, Cyrillic substitutions): are normalized and blocked at the same threshold as their canonical forms.
3.1 Attestation text
When you create a slug that matches a recognizable brand, you will be required to tick the following:
"I confirm I am the rightful owner of this brand name or have explicit authorization to use it. I understand that misuse may result in account termination and that ce.gg may share my information with the trademark owner upon valid legal request."
This attestation is logged with the timestamp, your account information, your IP address, and the user agent that submitted it. We retain this log indefinitely as evidence of your representation.
3.2 Reporting brand abuse
If you are a brand owner and you discover a ce.gg link infringing on your trademark:
- Email trademark@ce.gg with: (a) your name and role, (b) the slug in question, (c) your trademark registration details, (d) the official URL associated with your brand, (e) a description of the alleged infringement.
- We respond within 48 hours and resolve verified complaints within 7 days (typically faster).
- Our procedure is documented in our Trademark Policy (
docs/legal/trademark_policy.md).
4. Enforcement
4.1 Detection
We detect AUP violations through:
- Automated checks at link creation (brand protection, slug pattern analysis, destination URL safety scanning when active)
- Abuse reports from users and brand owners
- Audit log review by our Trust & Safety team
- Third-party safety integrations (Google Web Risk, etc., as available)
4.2 Response
Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, we may:
- Warn: Email notice with a window to correct the issue
- Block individual link: Set the link's
safety_statustoBLOCKED(returns HTTP 410 to all clicks) - Restrict account: Probation status; new link creations require admin review
- Soft freeze workspace: All workspace links blocked from redirecting
- Hard freeze workspace: Workspace cannot create or edit any content
- Terminate account: Full removal of access; all links blocked
- Legal escalation: Report to law enforcement; cooperate with valid legal process
We aim for proportionality. A single accidental TOS infraction is typically handled with a warning. Patterns of abuse, intentional misuse, or violations involving harm to others escalate quickly.
4.3 Appeals
If your account or link is restricted and you believe it was in error, you may appeal by emailing appeals@ce.gg with:
- Your account information
- The specific action you are appealing
- Your explanation and any supporting evidence
We respond within 7 business days. Our decisions are final, but we may reverse if facts warrant.
5. Repeat infringers
We maintain a repeat-infringer policy consistent with DMCA principles:
- 3 or more validated abuse reports against accounts you control = automatic restriction
- 5 or more = account termination
- Workspace-level strikes accumulate independently and may trigger workspace freeze before account termination
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be announced via:
- Email to account holders
- Notice on our website at ce.gg/legal/aup
- 30-day notice period for material changes affecting existing use
Your continued use after a published change constitutes acceptance.
